Hello, please allow me to introduce myself! My name is Regina, I identify as a black, multicultural and multiethnic, cisgendered woman who is passionate about holistic health and wellness, committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and community partnership. I grew up in the Twin Cities Metro and have spent some time in California and traveling abroad. My wanderlust, love for people, food, nature, the arts and culture alike continue to feed my soul. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have a natural curiosity to understand the intricacies of how people communicate and relate with one another. I have over 15 years of experience working in the Mental Health industry, providing therapeutic services to individuals, c couples and families across the lifespan in schools, hospitals, treatment centers and various clinics in the community.
I work with adult clients aged 18+ individuals, couples, families and groups, with a passion for supporting women of color while they navigate college, graduate school, professional development and balancing the demands of the multiple roles they carry. I am passionate and motivated by my client's healing process as they navigate the complexities of life. Clinically, I show up with authenticity and empathy, with the intention to create a safe space for clients to process the impact of social, academic, systemic, racial and multicultural issues on their mental health, as well as acculturation and adjustment difficulties and other developmental concerns. My theoretical orientation is informed by a holistic, person-centered approach and through a multicultural and strength-based lens.
Some of the modalities that I lean into include IFS, systemic therapy, solution-focused, mindfulness while integrating liberation and decolonization-based practices. Areas of focus include difficulty transitioning in life, decision making, school/work stress, self-esteem, relationships, parenting/blended families, complex families, racial and multicultural identity, LGBTQIA affirming, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression spirituality, religion and co-occurring disorders/substance use.
Just as it is my honor to hold space for clients, I am excited to embark on a new endeavor to work with trainees seeking licensure, as I am now a Board approved Supervisor for MN Board of marriage and family; I also plan to be certified to support LPCs in their licensure process in 2024. I believe that change and growth happen in authentic therapeutic relationships and through assisting clients to access their internal and external resources to overcome their struggles. In parallel process, my own journey of becoming a licensed therapist was through the life-changing relationships I formed with my supervisors along the way. Specifically, the self of the therapist work I did during my development as a trainee helped me hold space for my anxiety, gain confidence and lean into the wisdom of those who have gone before me. It is my goal to be a well-rounded supervisor offering space for trainees to show up as their authentic selves, make meaning of their journey, and provide support and insights into the many roles we carry in our clinical practice.
