Hi there! I’m Katy, it’s so nice to meet you.
I’m a firm believer that humans contain multitudes and we all have our own stories that shape who we are and how we exist in this world. These stories are nuanced and unique based on our life experiences, our identities, and the dominant cultural narratives we've inherited or experienced throughout our lives.
The most important factor in my therapeutic approach is the relationship we will build together. Our sessions will be collaborative and together we will shape each session to fit what you need that day. Whether it’s laughing, swearing, crying or sitting in silence, therapy is a space for you to find support during your hardest moments and celebration during your biggest joys. I will also pull from narrative therapy, parts work and feminist family therapy approaches during our work together.
I am open to working with adults, individuals and couples, 18 years and older, but I have a special interest in working with:
● People in their 20s and 30s who are figuring out what it means to be an adult in today’s world and wanting to build a life that brings them joy.
● Couples looking to build relationships that work for them and not what societal expectations tell us a relationship should look like.
● Men looking to explore what healthy masculinity and emotional awareness means for them by challenging and looking beyond the restrictive "shoulds" that men hear from a young age.
The impact of cultural influences, social dynamics, and our political landscape isn't something we can leave at the door during therapy; these forces inform how we move through the world each day. As a white, cisgender woman, I understand the power I hold in this world. I am always open to conversations
around power, privilege and identity and how those are showing up in our space in order for you to feel safe being your whole self.
My love of people, relationships and stories is what drew me to this work after a career in marketing. Outside of work, I love reading all types of books, from fantasy to fan fiction, spending time with my dog, friends and family (the order changes, but my dog is always first), and exploring new restaurants, coffee
shops and bookstores throughout the Twin Cities.
No matter who you are, your story matters and you have the power to create the best version of your life -however you define that and I'm here to walk alongside you in that journey.
